I think HostGator has big server specification. You can get unlimited features with less money but still affordable.

HostGator is pretty good but they aren't really cheap. Myself I have a bussiness package with MochaHost with two free domains. I pay 150 dollars for two years but I have private tomcat, rubyonrails and so on enabled.

I haven't tried any of those. I've heard HostICan.com is pretty awesome. They also have an offer of moving your website from your old host to their servers for free. But they're pretty expensive for my budget...

I have tried nearly all of them but do not have a great opinion about them.

Though saying so tersely will little unfair as I have not used there free hosting. On free hosting by them:

GoDaddy: If you host your site for free on Godaddy, it will be so ugly, they induce there Google Ads on top of your site. Templates are so limited and it is so pathetic.

Dreamhost: Amount of spam mails you will receive that you will regret why signed up.

I have an account at dreamhost. I think they have a really nice hosting. They are cheap, maybe this is not at sight at first but they have a lot of offers and also it isn't hard to find a coupon code on Internet. I paid about 9 dollars for 2 years of hosting, this is my second year.

Altough you can find a lot of bad reviews on dreamhost I have never had any problem with them. They even give SSH access  The only drawback I can see is that they don't use cpanel but some privative panel of their own, they do have some one-click installers but just a few scripts available.

I have had a good experience with them, but also heard a lot of spooky things about them...

I've used 1and1 hosting for many years and have not had any issues that caused me grief.  On the rare occasion that some user on the shared server starts hogging the bandwidth, I've called them to ask that I be switched to a different server.  Can't say for sure if they switched me, but the problem was soon rectified.
